Trying to charge a 20GB ipod?!?

My friend gave me a 20GB apple ipod and I'm trying to charge it with a "Apple Ipod nano travel charger". I tried connecting it to the computer but nothing appears on the screen. And I tried plugging it into the "wall travel charger" still nothing appears. What is wrong with it?

Answer by crissyll22Try resetting it Hold in Menu and Play. If not try a firewire
